What is the Solution of  Anti-Vax Movement

Immunization programs are scheduled vaccinations either by injection or orally that have been identified as one of the most effective preventive measures against the control of several dangerous infectious diseases. In Malaysia, these infectious diseases are classified in the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

Faced with this problem, it is certain that the government and MOH have allocated additional budgets and compete globally to obtain adequate supply of vaccines for the target population in addition to the cost of treatment of infectious diseases, especially Covid-19 which strikes all over the world. The challenge for medical practitioners is to identify and overcome the problem of vaccine 'opponents' and 'unsure' groups in the community to ensure the effectiveness of the Immunization Program for Malaysians, such as:

  1. Immunization Education : Health Officers should be involved in explaining the benefits of the vaccine even if it takes sufficient time to explain in detail, giving space for future appointments if it has not been reached on both sides.
  2. Provide supportive authentic information : Studies, statistics, websites, brochures and other materials.
  3. Addressing beliefs from a philosophical, religious and scientific point of view : Being prepared with acceptable facts and arguments, holding dialogues, forums and resolutions between consumers, health and scientists.
  4. Awareness campaigns : Talks, seminars, forums and case briefings to the public with the help of the media.
